Destination: Top Universities in Australia

Sick of the rain? Sick of the snow? Australia is famous for serving up the sun, sand and surf that makes the rest of the academic world a little jealous. Pick Australia as a destination and you could be looking at 90% of your year being spent in the sun. Not too shabby! They also make some world-class universities down under, so if you haven’t checked them out yet, look now!

Here’s a few links to the top universities in Australia that rank in the top 100 in the world in the QS World University Rankings. Proof that you can get the best of both worlds: a bit of a tan and a great education.

• Australian National University is ranked 26th in the QS World University Rankings, making it the top-ranked Australian university. 
• University of Melbourne is ranked 31st and is situated in the birthplace of Kylie Minogue and the setting for Neighbours. If you don’t know who she is or what that is, the start of your lesson on AU culture starts here, or possibly here…
• Sydney is home to the iconic opera house and the University of Sydney which is ranked 38 in the world. It’s the most populous city in Australia, so there’s bound to be some good nightlife to boot.
• University of Queensland ranks 48th in the world and gets its name in honor of Queen Victoria. Iit’s also home of my favorite Australian accent.) 
• University of New South Wales is ranked 49th and is also a 5-star rated school. They’re known as a top school for computer science. 
• Monash University ranks at 60th and is in Melbourne. It’s got the largest student body in Australia! 
• University of Western Australia ranks 73rd. It’s the oldest university in the state and sits in Perth, a city ranked among the best cities in the world to study. 
• Last but not least in my top universities in Australia list is University of Adelaide. Ranking 92 in the world and also in a city that features in the Best Student Cities list.
