Should I study in Italy or abroad?

Hello everyone!
I live in Milan (Italy) and I'd like to study Engineering next year but I don't know whether to do it in my country or abroad.
Given the bad Italian economy it's likely I'll end up working abroad and honestly I'd like it, so I want to get very good in English and studying in an English-speaking country sounds like the best way. I also want to study in a very good university to receive a top level education and to find a good job.
The problem is that in my city there is a very good uni (https://www.topuniversities.com/universities/politecnico-di-milano/undergrad), and I don't know if moving is worth it. Studying abroad is much more expensive and I fear my English is not good enough to take high marks, but in Italy i won't be able to reach a good fluency, and I think our educational system is worse than the English one. I don't know if going to another uni in England/Canada/US that is at a lower rank would be worth it.
I wonder if you could give some advice, maybe some comments about the uni here in Milan, if you think it's good or bad.
Thanks for your time!

Hello,

My name is Lucas Agostinis, I'm 20 years old and I'm studying Automation and Control Engineering at University of Campinas (Unicamp), Brazil. I don't know how old you are, but with no doubts the experience you will get doing you course abroad is something that you can not imagine.
Of course everything depends on how much you have to pay for it, or how prepared you are to talk to the foreign universities looking for scholarships or something related.

I can give you my example. I’ve got some friends who went to universities in Portugal, Sweden, France and Netherlands doing sandwiches programs, and they said to me it’s amazing because they could know people from all over the world, they’ve got independent, they had to deal with their own finances, and I’m looking for this kind of experience! Here in Brazil we have a governmental project called Science Without Borders (Ciência sem Fronteiras) that was created during the administration of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and this project pay everything for brazilian students go abroad during one year to the university they’ve chosen.

Beside this project, each public university in Brazil has their own exchange program scheme, that allows brazilians students go abroad and foreign students come to study in Brazil. As you mention, Politecnico di Milano and University of Campinas have an agreement where we can apply for double degree at Politecnico di Milano, and Italians can come and study for two years at Unicap.

To sum up, from my point of view it’s highly recommended to take the opportunity to study abroad. And you may consider the idea to come to Brazil, first of all you do not have to pay to study at brazilians universities. Secondly, Portuguese is similar to Italian and you can learn our language so fast. Finally, there are many Italian companies around Campinas that could hire you easily due to the fact you’ve studied at one of the best universities in Brazil and because you speak Italian as well.

I hope I could help you!
