The Department of Business Administration, established in 1988, is one of the core departments of the Taiwan Tech School of Management. We offer degree programs at all levels, from Bachelor’s to Ph.D., as well as sub-degree programs, and have developed an excellent reputation among Taiwan’s industries and employers. In recent years, we have put efforts into the internationalization of our department, with an increasing number of English-taught courses, especially at graduate level.
Our well-rounded business education aims to to train young talent in basic and advanced management skills that are necessary in a fast-changing economic environment. Drawing on the expertise of our alumni, many of whom have become outstanding business leaders in Taiwan, we are constantly adapting our curricula to respond to new developments in relevant industries. As the open, cross-departmental structure of the School of Management allows its departments to design flexible curricula, our students can customize their studies by combining courses from the Department of Business Administration with a broad range of electives offered by other departments of the School of Management, or by the business schools of our alliance universities, National Taiwan University and National Taiwan Normal University. As to be expected for a business department of an international applied research university like Taiwan Tech, our courses combine theoretical and practical aspects of business education, with an ample “case study program” that draws on examples from Taiwan and global enterprises.
Over the years, our department has developed research strengths in the fields of Organizational Behavior and Human Resources Management, Marketing, and Strategic Management. However, following the new strategic plan of the Taiwan Tech School of Management, we have recently started to refocus our teaching and research on the digital transformation of industry. Thus, we are in the process of shifting our curricula and research efforts to the fields of entrepreneurship in emerging industries, start-up and innovation management, big-data analytics, and Artificial Intelligence-related developments.
