The Bachelor’s Degree in Childhood Neuro and Psycomotricity aims to train healthcare operators who take ownership of their actions and work with professional autonomy to promote prevention, treatment, habilitation, rehabilitation and procedures relating to the functional evaluation of childhood and adolescent patients suffering from neuromotor, psycomotor and neuropsychological disorders.
In order to ensure students meet these professional requirements, the University of Milano-Bicocca has planned the Degree course to ensure that the objectives that students must achieve through specific teaching activities are clearly defined. The content is clearly stated, with the timescales and educational settings indicated. Each subject is specifically framed and assessed in terms of its effectiveness.
Through tutor-led teaching, the Degree ensures that students are at the centre of a system that constantly requires them to use their intellectual and ethical resources and relationship skills to gradually build up their decision-making power.
The official language of the course is Italian.
The Degree uses mixed theory and practical exercises to bridge the divide between theory and practice in the minds of the students. The theoretical teaching is supported by laboratory sessions, traineeships and educational activities involving the use of facilitators to help the students to consolidate their abilities in terms of patient communication and encourage them to become gradually more aware of their communication style (role play, non-verbal communication training, individual and group supervision).
The Degree lasts three years and involves the acquisition of 180 CFUs leading to the award of the Degree in Childhood Neuro and Psycomotricity (qualification required for the profession of Childhood Neuro and Psycomotricity therapist). The final exam is equivalent to the value of the state exam required for access to the profession.
The qualification enables access to Master’s Degree courses in Rehabilitative Sciences, without study deficits, first-level post-graduate programmes and specialist training courses.
