Doctorate in Environmental, Geological and Polar Sciences and Technologies

The problems connected with the management of natural resources, the impact of their use, natural risks and climate-environmental changes require a global approach to phenomena and processes. The Doctorate in Environmental, Geological and Polar Sciences and Technologies has a strong inter- and multidisciplinary connotation (scientific disciplinary sectors of the CUN areas 03, 04, 05 and 07) and aims to provide high-level post-graduate training in research, both basic and applied, aimed at studying the functioning and interactions between the different compartments of the Earth, which find a synthesis in the so-called  Earth System Science. To carry out their experimental research projects, students can use the scientific skills and equipment available in the Department of Physical, Earth and Environmental Sciences, the Geotechnology Centre, the National Antarctic Museum and various universities and research centres. I'm looking for Italians and foreigners. Inspired by the European Charter for Researchers, the Doctorate aims to contribute to the creation of the European Higher Education and Research Area, training highly qualified researchers, capable of operating independently in university laboratories and public and private research bodies. With the skills acquired in the three-year period, graduates will be able to carry out freelance activities in agencies for the protection and management of the territory, environmental modeling and monitoring,  EIA procedures, remediation of polluted sites, minero-petrographic characterization of archaeological materials, paleoclimatic and paleoenvironmental reconstructions and prehistoric archeology research.
