The strong potential of this training path is nourished by the belief that Italian and European cities have always been, due to their territorial vocation, social, political and economic history, complexity and cultural quality, propulsive hotbeds of exchange, such as to offer infinite food for thought for modern research hinged on the dialectics of the historical-artistic discipline, in its wide variety of declinations.
Professors and researchers from the two affiliated universities, the University of Siena and the University for Foreigners of Siena, take part in the doctorate in History of Art. The College is also open to professors from other Italian and foreign universities and to experts with vast experience in the field of scientific research as well as protection and valorisation, members of qualified national and international cultural institutions.
The doctorate in History of Art aims to train figures capable of interacting easily both in the world of pure research and in the national and international professional world, placing themselves as reference figures in the framework of the production and transmission of knowledge and scientific knowledge in the the area of artistic heritage, preliminary to any conservation, protection and valorization activity.
