The establishment of the Doctorate course in "Law and Management of Sustainability - DiMaS" was born with the contribution of the scientific-disciplinary areas 12 (Legal Sciences) and 13b (Business Economics) belonging to the teachers of the Department of Business and Legal Studies (DISAG ) in which it is hinged.
The choice of sustainability as the cornerstone of the study and research path derives from a consolidated interest in this topic on the part of the department's teachers. This is demonstrated both in the scientific production on the subject and in the presence of funded research projects on the topic headed by the same professors and in the availability of a dedicated infrastructure (DNF Observatory - Observatory of Non-Financial Declarations (DNF) and Sustainable Practices). Furthermore, this choice fully complies with the directives contained in the University Strategic Plan.
The doctoral training path is characterized by its transversality within individual scientific-disciplinary sectors, by its international orientation and by its connection with institutions and research centres. These specificities distinguish the new course compared to other doctorates in the field existing at the international, national and local level.
As regards transversality and interdisciplinarity, the teachings and research topics included in the training course can be traced back to the sectors of area 12 and area 13b of the DISAG which have already been experimenting with moments of discussion and collaboration in the planning of the offer for some time training of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, in the organization of an annual Department conference and in participation in research projects.
