Mechanical and Production Engineering covers several disciplines: physics, mathematics, materials, mechanics, electrical engineering, production, control and regulation. All these topics form the basis of the knowledge you acquire through the education. You will therefore gain a broad knowledge within the subject, and you will be able to construct, manufacture and control machines and production systems in a creative and systematic way.
You will learn to solve industrial problems and to use advanced computer-based calculation tools and experimental methods.  The education gives you a solid professional knowledge combined with social skills and good collaboration skills. After completing your bachelor's degree, you have all the basic skills required of a modern mechanical engineer. In each semester, the courses make up half of the time and the other half is spent on project work in self-selected groups - often in close collaboration with relevant companies. You and your project team use theories and methods to solve a real-world problem.

Aalborg University offers interdisciplinary studies where bachelor courses (basic study programmes) are followed by masters and Ph.D. courses (subsequent specialisation). The university offers 10 different undergraduate programmes in English across five faculties:

  • The Faculty of Humanities
  • The Technical Faculty of IT and Design
  • The Faculty of Social Sciences
  • The Faculty of Engineering and Science
  • The Faculty of Medicine

Each of the five faculties has its own schools with full time bachelor education spanning over three years and designed to prepare students for master and Ph.D. education at a high academic and international level. Since the Ph.D. programmes are focussed on training researchers, students are researching independently and being actively involved in Aalborg’s research community.

All study programmes at AAU are based on a unique model of teaching and learning: the problem based and project organized model based on real life challanges, also referred to as "The PBL Model" and "The Aalborg Model". This model has become both nationally and internationally recognized as an advanced and efficient learning model, and ot is a trademark for Aalborg University.

Aalborg University is among the world's leading universities regarding research within health technology, wireless communication, energy, computer science, innovation economics, and comparative welfare studies.

More than 20.000 students are enrolled at Aalborg University, and approximately 10% of those are international students from countries all over the world. The university employs approximately 2.000 faculty staff and approximately 1.400 administrative/technical staff.
