General eligibility conditions

To be eligible as a regular student, the candidate must meet the general eligibility conditions (section XI) of the Educational Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

Required diplomas and admission thresholds: Quebec

To meet the Université de Montréal average of 3.0 out of 4.3, candidates from this province must meet the following requirements:

Accepted diploma: Baccalaureate, Bachelor; duration of 3 years, or another undergraduate degree deemed equivalent.

Minimum average:

  • Bishop: 75%
  • Concordia University: 3.0/4.3
  • Higher Technology School: 3.0/4.3
  • HEC Montreal: 3.0/4.3
  • McGill University: 3.0/4.0
  • Polytechnique Montréal: 2.75/4.0
  • University of Sherbrooke: 3.0/4.3
  • Laval University: 3.0/4.3
  • Universities of Quebec: 3.2/4.3
Conditions specific to this program

To be eligible as a regular student at the LL. M. (right) - with dissertation, the candidate must:

  • meet the general eligibility conditions (section XI) of the Educational Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies
  • hold a bachelor's degree in law from the University of Montreal or a diploma deemed equivalent
  • have obtained, in the 1st cycle, in the microprogram or the DESS, an average of at least 3.0 out of 4.3 or the equivalent. The candidate whose average is between 3.0 and 3.3 or the equivalent must provide additional documents listed below.
  • demonstrate sufficient knowledge of French and English.
The dean is not required to admit all applicants who meet the eligibility requirements.
