General eligibility conditions

To be eligible as a regular student, the candidate must meet the general eligibility conditions (section XI) of the Educational Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

Required diplomas and admission thresholds: Quebec

To meet the Université de Montréal average of 3.0 out of 4.3, candidates from this province must meet the following requirements:

Accepted diploma: Baccalaureate, Bachelor; duration of 3 years, or other undergraduate degree deemed equivalent.

Conditions specific to this program

To be eligible as a master's student in education, secondary teaching option, the candidate must:

  • meet the general eligibility conditions (section XI) of the Educational Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (RPESP);
  • hold an undergraduate diploma adequately preparing for the studies they wish to undertake, that is to say in connection with the disciplinary training of the Basic school regulation for secondary education targeted, or attest to a training deemed equivalent
  • have obtained, in the 1st cycle, an average of at least 3.0 out of 4.3 (or the equivalent) or the average required by the original university for admission to a 2nd cycle program, if this is higher. In the case of a baccalaureate obtained by accumulation, the average will be calculated on the disciplinary portion linked to the disciplinary training of the Basic school regulation for secondary education in question;
  • take the written French diagnostic test recognized or administered by the University (TFLM). In the event of failure, the student must successfully complete, outside of the program, the refresher course(s) prescribed by the Faculty, DID1009-Grammar for future teachers and/or DID1010-Written French for future teachers. A double failure in course DID1009 or DID1010 results in the end of the application.
