The Doctorate program in Occupational Health Sciences is a high-level academic program with a focus on research, with face-to-face, school and tutorial modalities, whose general objective is to train researchers with a level of excellence in occupational health capable of generating, multidisciplinary way, knowledge, methodologies and intervention strategies for the promotion and care of collective and individual health of workers. It is aimed at doctors, engineers, psychologists, administrators, industrial relations graduates and other professionals whose training is related to health, safety, hygiene and risk management at work.


Those who aspire to obtain the degree of Doctor of Occupational Health Sciences must have a Master's degree in Occupational Health Sciences or the related areas already mentioned, as well as knowledge of scientific methodology, ethical practice, scientific writing, computation and domain enough for the translation of articles in a foreign language. It is important that they have experience in the area of ​​care and/or research in Occupational Health.
They must show interest in improving the health problems of workers in different occupational settings, both formal and informal, independently or in multidisciplinary work teams. Also show commitment to produce original knowledge that favors scientific, humanistic and technological development, to improve the health of workers in congruence with the social reality of the country and the region.


The doctorate has a duration of 6 (six) school cycles, which will be counted from the moment of registration.


There is flexibility in the Study Plan so that students can accredit courses in other programs of the same level of studies and in various educational modalities of the institution itself or in other national and foreign higher education institutions.


To cover the curricular credits, the academic activities are designed so that the student dedicates a total of 30 to 35 hours a week, distributed among the learning units of the study plan, the development of tasks, the design and execution of the research (thesis), field visits, internships and professional stays. Culminating with the presentation and defense of the thesis, product of an original investigation.

  • Have a master's degree or master's degree exam certificate related to occupational health. The Academic Board of the doctorate will determine the affinity based on the consideration of the contents of the master's degree completed by the applicant, and/or the professional experience and/or the integration of the applicant's degree project and/or the applicant's preliminary project with the lines of generation and application of existing knowledge in the doctorate.
  • Accredit a minimum average of eighty in the relevant studies, with an original certificate or a comparable document, as the case may be.
  • Submit and pass the reading-comprehension exam of a foreign language, preferably English. Priority will be given to the TOEFFL exam with a minimum of 390 points or its equivalent;
  • Letter of explanation of reasons to study the program.
  • Present and pass a knowledge and/or selection exam proposed by the Academic Board of the Doctorate, which includes the evaluation of basic computer and navigation knowledge. In the case of the selection exam, priority will be given to the EXANI-III National Postgraduate Entrance Exam, WITH 1,000 points as a minimum score.
  • Present an interview with the Selection Committee made up of professors of the doctorate and the Academic Board.
  • Submit a preliminary doctoral thesis research project, related to the lines of generation and application of knowledge of the program.
  • Those who establish the call.
