The Master's Degree in Applied Economics from the Universidad del Valle is the master's degree in economics with the most experience in southwestern Colombia and the one with the greatest economic and social impact. It was created in 1989 through resolution No. 158 of the Higher Council of the University and was registered in the National System of Higher Education Information (SNIES) in 1990. The first cohort of the Master's degree entered in the year 1991.
Since then, the program has responded to regional demands for researchers and professors with a high level of theoretical and investigative training, and with the analytical capacity to understand and study the economic problems that affect the region, the country, and the world in general.
