The development of today's society has generated a worrying imbalance in the processes of interaction between ecological, sociocultural, economic and technological factors, producing the degradation of strategic ecosystems, poverty and inequity in access to food, water and environmental quality. and the exacerbation of the risks of natural disasters, compromising the life chances of various human groups.  Sustainability is a necessary perspective to help overcome this imbalance and reconnect the human being with nature, for which interdisciplinary, alternative and critical work approaches, innovative and creative research methods applicable to various socio-environmental contexts and genuine participatory processes are required. established with communities and in territories where various socio-ecological transitions towards sustainability are evident. The academic program Master in Sustainable Development offers a creative space for the analysis, research and implementation of intervention strategies in various socio-environmental contexts, adopting the perspective of sustainability. The MDS has an interdisciplinary program supported by 17 research groups and 25 professors with postgraduate training, who are part of five faculties of the Universidad del Valle: Engineering, Basic Sciences, Health, Social and Economic Sciences, and Humanities.
